The city's hotel gets the love it deserves.

Re-opening maj 2024

The renovation of our iconic Hotel Royal is now officially underway.

We welcome our lovely guests

As of January 2, 2024, the craftsmen began the extensive renovation of our iconic Hotel Royal at Store Torv in the heart of Aarhus

This renovation, costing up to 20 million DKK, will bring significant changes, while of course showing great respect for the building and its history

Over the years, Hotel Royal has hosted everyone from royalty to celebrities, and the ambition is to create a boutique hotel of international standard, with respect for its more than 180-year-long history.

Let hotel manager Line Olesen share and show how far we are in the above process

It is with both anticipation and great reverence that we have just begun the renovation. The hotel, with its grand architecture and central location, is one of the city's most iconic landmarks, and we have great respect for that. Therefore, the initial process of finalizing the design has been very meticulous, ensuring that we give Hotel Royal the respect it deserves.

Danni Bühlmann
Owner

The renovation started on January 2, 2024

he Bühlmann Group has extensive experience in transforming and renovating hotels. Therefore, the renovation of Hotel Royal is planned down to the smallest detail and divided into phases, allowing us to continue welcoming our lovely guests at the hotel. Only from January 2 to 16 do we close the hotel entirely while, among other things, the lobby is transformed.

Reopening will take place in May 2024

This experience also means that the extensive renovation will be completed by the end of April. Thus, we are ready for a grand reopening in May 2024. We are incredibly excited to welcome you to the new Hotel Royal.
More information will follow as we get closer to the date.

The hotel is being upgraded to an entirely new standard

Among other things, all the hotel's rooms are being renovated.

The design of the new Hotel Royal is handled by the Swedish architecture and interior design firm Semrén & Månsson, which includes a significant upgrade of the hotel’s current 69 rooms as well as five completely new rooms, ranging from a penthouse and bridal suite to the Kings Suite and Queens Single. Additionally, future guests can look forward to being welcomed in a new lobby and enjoying a champagne brunch or afternoon tea in the hotel’s atrium-inspired restaurant, named Queens Garden.

The renovation itself will proceed in phases, allowing us to still accommodate our lovely guests at the hotel. Certain departments/floors will be closed alternately. This method has been successfully used at several of Bühlmann Group’s hotels during renovations. This means that we have considerable insight and knowledge about how to approach such a project without disturbing the guests.
